Specific recommendations for action apply in case that certain antibiotic-resistant bacteria and other special pathogens occur. The reason: applying basic hygiene only – including the disinfection and barrier measures – is not sufficient to contain them. Therefore, the Commission for Hospital Hygiene and Infection Prevention (KRINKO) gives recommendations that are adapted to the respective group of pathogens:
