Protection of individuals and the population against communicable diseases through prevention, epidemiological surveillance and control. The necessary measures – medical, administrative, organisational-technical, legal and behavioural recommendations – are defined on the basis of the findings of infection epidemiology, infectiology, microbiology and hygiene.
