targeted disinfection

Category of disinfection according to the recommendation “Hygiene requirements for the cleaning and disinfection of surfaces” of the Commission for Hospital Hygiene and Infectious Disease Prevention at the Robert Koch-Institute (RKI). Targeted disinfection includes the categories:

Visible contamination

Procedure in case of contamination of surfaces with, for example, blood, pus or other body fluids.

Terminal disinfection

Disinfection of areas or rooms, where patients with an infection or colonised with pathogens had been cared for or treated, to exclude infection for the subsequent patient.

Outbreak situations and occurrence of special pathogens

In addition to routine measures, necessary measures or spectra of activity to contain and prevent the further spread of, for example, multidrug-resistant or highly infectious pathogens.
